eGlycemic Management Systems (eGMS) were introduced to offer practical clinical decision support based on best care practices shown to safely improve glycemic control metrics. Several studies have supported the case for computer-based algorithms and automated insulin dosing recommendations, showing improved glycemic control with a reduced risk of hypoglycemia. This poster highlights the state of inpatient insulin management, types of eGMS solutions, differentiation of various solutions and key factors to consider when moving from paper protocols to automated insulin dosing solutions
