Monarch Medical Technologies Hosts Webinar on Inpatient Diabetes Care Quality Improvement

The March 6 webinar features Dr. Sandy Fogel of Carilion Clinic discussing glycemic management quality improvement in preparation for new quality metrics.

Monarch Medical Technologies, the leader in precision insulin dosing for optimized inpatient glucose management, today announced that the company will host a complimentary webinar, “Breaking the Barriers of Inpatient Glycemic Management Quality Improvement,” on March 6, from 1-2 p.m. EST.

The webinar will discuss how to implement quality improvement projects and why glycemic management should be an area of focus for hospitals. During the webinar, Sandy Fogel, MD, FACS, the Surgical Quality Officer at Carilion Clinic, will discuss the steps necessary to implement change management and share a case study with a glucose control improvement project from his own institution. Monarch President and CEO, Linda Beneze, will also provide an overview of the glucose control clinical quality measures that are under consideration with the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) and anticipated to be introduced in the near future.

“Change management is difficult in any industry, but particularly in healthcare, where habits persist because of clinical inertia and changing practices requires a huge, systematic effort,” said Beneze. “However, with the population of hospitalized patients with diabetes on the rise and both hypoglycemia and hyperglycemia significantly associated with a range of harms, improving glycemic management should be a goal for every provider organization. The CMS development of glucose control quality measures only reinforces the need to make glycemic management improvement initiatives a priority.”

The event will be recorded and available for on-demand viewing on the Monarch website 24 hours following the live event.
