Mercyhealth Partners With Monarch Medical Technologies to Optimize Inpatient Diabetes Management

Mercyhealth, a multi-regional healthcare system serving northern Illinois and southern Wisconsin, is partnering with Monarch Medical Technologies to improve care for patients with diabetes or stress-induced hyperglycemia. Using Monarch’s FDA-cleared insulin dosing software, EndoTool, Mercyhealth will be able to provide their patients precise insulin therapy to safely and rapidly manage hyperglycemia, while reducing the risk of hypoglycemia.

“At Mercyhealth, we pride ourselves on delivering the highest quality, patient-centered care,” said Ruth Yarbrough, Vice President of Mercyhealth. “Partnering with Monarch will help further enhance the quality and safety of care we provide with improved glycemic management practices that will prevent medication errors, reduce infections and shorten length of stay.”

Monarch’s EndoTool uses proven, advanced algorithms to predict dosing recommendations for each patient. Using multiple patient-specific factors, including steroid presence and kidney function, it significantly reduces the time to reach target blood glucose levels and limits glycemic variability.

“In selecting an electronic glucose management system, we were looking for a solution that would assist in optimizing patient outcomes, but also a knowledgeable team that would guide us during implementation and provide ongoing support,” said Yarbrough. “With Monarch, we’ve found a partner who can help every step of the way to ensure the best possible fit with our processes and workflow.”

Mercyhealth will be fully integrating EndoTool with their electronic medical record. Monarch’s integration capabilities allow single sign-on, simplified bedside workflow, and reduced duplicative data entry, allowing clinicians to spend more time delivering quality patient care.

“As a well-respected healthcare provider, Mercyhealth has long been focused on serving the needs of their community. One way they have done so is by adopting leading technologies,” said Bruce Lisanti, President & CEO of Monarch. “Their decision to implement our products is another example of their commitment to provide the highest quality of care, and specifically to help the growing number of patients with diabetes. We are proud to partner with them to improve their insulin therapy.”
